we are hoping to start going on runs even if theyare up north.the country is only 500 long so the max half way is 250 miles.Mind you im impressed with the understanding you guys have with your cars.I think most people know when not to do some thing. But I would be more then happy to get involed,To be honest I wouldnt be doing major jobs there,so I would charge people for doing what we would call basic stuff,if some one turned up for a vvc upgrade and a clutch change they may be turned away.
Most people just want to do basic stuff, things that to be honest isnt worth us doing ,
We can spend two hours with window adjustment and we can charge what £20.but we can fit a roof and seats in that time and help pay our bills.
I like the forum and you guys seem a nice bunch,so any help will be free.I can always help out where I can on the forum, but at present its been general maintance and repair.
To be honest resetting the epas we have only done once, simply because its cheaper and quicker to change the whole unit then spend time adjusting it,fitting it and testing it,So believe it or not some jobs you guys can do better then us.We only get th major stuff, engine rebuilds,
Last time I fixed a window was a long time ago. mind you we can bring our pump along and show people a easy way to see if your car is the right level,

I am checking out a warehouse on Monday - near to Swindon, off the M4. Is this the kind of central location that would suit everyone?

a ware house is perfect, protect us from all this burning sunshine.swindon is ok with me.Should be a good day.sort out teas and coffees.BBQ perhaps.if everyone brought some food,I cant cook so im out on that one.if there is electric in the ware house I can bring some lights for looking at the cars,we can bring some kettles.
If its arranged it could be a good meeting.need about 15 plus people to make it worth while, and we could do it every year.

Great

The Northern versions of this have been a great success! We used a warehouse type building with electricity and toilets(very handy)
Outside was an area for a barbecue and water supply for washing etc.

You will need to think about disposal of waste oil/replaced parts etc. too.

Once you've got a venue, sort out a day and date, and advertise it on the forum. Simples

If you want Daz, Russel and/or Jon to attend you will need to ask them with plenty of notice, with an good idea of what people are wanting done.

I did got to Wiltshire today and checked out a warehouse near Swindon. It's a mess - full of rubbish, concrete and old storage racks. It is being made ready for commercial use over the next few weeks and there might be some space we can use post refit/refurb. I fear by then the weather will be inclement - and the SORN period will be upon us. This might reduce attendees.
Is it best to leave the idea until the spring?
What say you?
