Sorry, should have said before, refer to David's "how to" for adjusting the handbrake and setting up the new callipers before using them. I recall that this has to be done BEFORE the handbrake is used for the first time to preset the pistons correctly.

Thanks for the tip Bryan. The calipers come 'preset' but as the pads have been on a few weeks I did need to adjust pistons slighty.
Biggest problem was that the right hand caliper came with a handbrake bracket attached which I thought was handy; that was until I put the caliper on and realised that the braket was for the 'left' side and pointed in completely the wrong direction to get the cable through. Again, shouldnt have been a problem as I thought I'd just take it off and attach the one of mine. First nut came out with a bit of grunt but second one was slightly rounded and my socket skipped and rounded it even more. Eventually resorted to hammering on an 11mm socket and getting it off that way. Got my hands on a one man bleed kit, but brakes didn't feel quite right after the bleed, so I'm going to bleed again tonight with a 'pedal pusher' on hand.
Thanks for the offer of the phone call Dazlightyear, I'm going to have a closer look this weekend and if I don't spot anything will take you up and give you a call.
Much thanks all.

The second bleeding made a huge difference; there was loads of air still in the pipes; so one man bleed kits are best avoided IMO. Brakes are now working really well, I suspect that the callipers had probably not been quite right since I got the car as the difference is very noticable. So one passed MOT and a happy bunny ..... I just need my mac back now so that I can get off this godawful PC.
