Washers-any suggestions was created by a Guest

Supposed to be getting MOT tomorrow, but the washers have stopped working, no noise or anything. Tried spare pump from old car and just the same so don't think its the pumps. Any ideas?

Not lines blocked as doesnt work with tubes removed either

Rotary coupler? All other electrics/stuff on steering column are working fine

Very annoyed...will be as well just cancelling the MOT..

The washers don't operate through the rotary coupler so can't be that. You need to trace the wiring back. Fuse Ok? 12 volts at the pump? 12volts at the switch?

Look at Fuse #13 15amp in the cabin fuse box.

Cheers folks. Fuses all OK, changed stalk in case switch was problem....nothing...nada.....12V going to multiplug when stalk activated

BUT was fiddling with connection at pump and it would work "occasionally"......then piggybacked onto plug and when pump worked, 12V or near enough, but quite often only 9-11V was getting to the pump?????? Hence the sporadic nature...pump would, not activate till nearer 12V

For the moment I have it working "regularly" so hopefully it will work at MOT time and I might get a new pump anyway in case the connection is fubarred

Only took me 3 hours :( (but I now know how easy it is to change the stalks if |I want to go for the 800 ones)

If you have a multimeter, switch to resistance(ohms) and put one probe into the plug earth connection; put the other probe to a known good earth. There should be only low resistance showing, meaning that the earth in the plug has a good connection to earth.

Thanks david. Will do another day as put it all back together. Having said that my voltmeter in the car has been playing up again so maybe there is a problem somewhere?

Oh well, waste fo time anyway.

FAILED:

Both front to rear brake pipes seriously pitted and corroded
Handbrake no reserve travel
Handbrake below efficiency
Incorrect colour of bulbs (oops, forgot to change the super white LEDs)..

Advisories...rear brake disks corroded/scratched
Both track rod ends have some play

so far....if they get the handbrake efficiency sorted by cleaning etc, then looking at about 320 quid.....another 120 if I need new disks pads at rear (as it might be causing problems with brake).

Pain in the ass as I have new disks/pads in the house, as well as both rear brake new callipers /handbrake bits n bobs...but they refuse to fit them.

whit hurricanes, early darkness and me being under the weather I will not have much option but to let them do it ...and it will still leak at the thermostat . If I ahd been better last few weeks Id have done a pre-emptive TRE replacement, and maybe fitted the new calipers ...but I didint :(

Meh :(

Still, I have had an MGF for 10 years and never failed yet on emissions and such like...always on suspension and brakes

Was sure it wasnt even an advisory last year and I haven't used it much since then....must have been the Highland trip lol

I'm not surprised they won't fit your parts, if they're sticking £120 on for discs and pads! :omg:

I'm just going through the Freelander at the moment pre MOT. Have had to replace all the brake pipes so far. Not a fun job.
