Pektron SCU
Hi Everyone.
Another question regarding Pektron SCU/keyfobs.
I have been offered a Pektron SCU and two matching key fobs from a 2003 1.8 tf, is it compatible with my 2004 tf 1.6, would I have to change the engine ECU as well.
Thanks
Geoff

I wouldn't think so but you may need a session on a diagnostic rig to introduce the new SCU to the existing ECU.
I'm sure an ECU expert will pipe up shortly to give us both the facts!

It is possible to swap the entire system.
However, on reading up on the Pektron system, you only need the barcode of any new fob you wish coded to your original SCU.
You don't need the barcode of any fobs already linked to the SCU.

hi,the key fobs are coded with the alarm system and the ecu .so to change you need the ecu,or some one with a t4 machice who can recode your key.
every key is made without a code, the code is then given to the key,it can be recoded. We used to be able to recode the keys, but when our machine broke we didnt replace it.the important thing with the ecu is that you get the right ecu.over the years rover changed the ignition system to help with emmision control
1.8 rotor arm
1.8 vvc j2
1.8 vvc mems 3
1.8 non vvc mems 3
you then get 1.6 in the same .
bit of a minefield.you then get cars on the change over where they are using the old coloured plugs on new coloured pins.

you may have to change the injectors from a 1.6 to a 1,8.
I will look up in our manual regarding if the ecu are different.if you let me know what your car is we do have a number of kits that will be every thing you need .
we need to know,
does your exhaust have a cut off valve on the drivers side.
is it non vvc.
does it have air con
does it have cruise control
is it an auto
we can supply every thing you need if you want it

The original object was to get another Key Fob, you are now entering a minefield by changing the SCU :omg: if you read the details that David sent all you need to do is buy a new fob (with 22 digit barcode idenity) cost £100 and get someone with Rover T4 test book to link it to the existing SCU (about £45)
