Alloy wheel confusion

I recently purchased a set of 17" 5 spoke alloys which had come off a 2003 TF, the plan being to use them through the winter with winter tyres (the 5 spoke being easier to clean as well) - cunning plan eh?

Problem is while they fit on the front (other than one of the spokes slightly catching on the AP's - fixed with a thin spacer) they just won't sit properly on the rear hubs and need a 7mm spacer to bed correctly. This means they stick out too far. and I'm not happy having such a thick spacer on in any event. The hub centre seems to be the same diameter as the flared part of the wheel centre but too big when it narrows.

Any ideas?

What wheels are they? What is there written on the inside of the spokes?

Every spoke has something written on it - yu'll have to excuse my ignorance here as to what's important.

Spoke 1 = KN
Spoke 2 = Made in UK
Spoke 3 = (three dots in a triangle)04
Spoke 4 = RLR 7Jx17
Spoke 5 = C3 [strike]IIIIIII[/strike]
PT
hope this means something to you David. :nonod:

I was hoping it would have the offset on it.

I would speak to the seller. He should have mentioned the need for spacers. :yesnod:

I know there'll be a communal Doh! - but what figures would the offset be quoted in, I'll have look in the morning to see if it's quoted anywhere else on the wheel.

Should be between 30 and 35(mm)

and make sure they are off a mgf/tf and not another mg car.seen this a few times the multispoke of the rover 25/mg car is the favorite mistake.
we dont get involed much with wheels and tyres so we are not that wise.but spacers should be looked into carefully.the rear wheel are never that far from the arch at the best of times.
