You need to be looking at upgrading the rears from the standard 240mm to about 280mm

The latest I have been told is, 266mm discs all around with a 6 pot front calliper and a 4+2 calliper at the rear.( 4 for braking 2 for the handbrake)

we are thinking of building my abingdon to a fast road car with all uprated stuff on.mind you built my sons metro with a vvc 160 engine,upraded brakes .suspension,full body kit and painted light blue.0 to 60 5,7 seconds.its still a shopping car I tell him

Brake pads - what spec are you using?
Hoses - are these standard or braided?
Fluid - are you using DOT 4 or DOT5.1?

You could also duct from the front bumper to the calipers.
