Two *May be* ideas:
1 - to much toe out \--^--/ <--- axle&wheels seen from top. Driving direction: ^
Inner edge tyre wear
2 - to less tyre pressure

Excess camber/ tracking usually gives a more gradual wear pattern.

Could the spring be bowing outward and rubbing on the tyre?

I would go for 2 ~ i had a simmilar problem on my Honda Accord on the rears at 45,000 miles, the standard camber angle tips the tops of the wheels inwards (wear on inside) and pressures were 30psi ~ handbook says 36psi, which they are now at. tyres were Avon ZV3 and had been on the front for first 10,000 miles.

I tend to corner hard which may not help.
I now have 2 brand new rear Toyos sitting in my garage which cost me less than £60 each.
I will give it a good check over before fitting the new tyres.
