Well, I took the OSR tyre off while I was playing with my suspenders and noticed this on the inside edge.

I take it that this isn't normal?

I have managed to buy 2 new 215/40/16 Toyo Proxes from BlackCircles.

The order has gone through and I have a provisional delivery date of 18 Oct

Tyre detail: Toyo Proxes T1-R 215/40 R16 W (86), Reinforced * 2
Scheduled delivery date: 18/10/2011

A full confirmation will be sent once our team has processed your order.

However, I'm half expecting to get an e-mail tomorrow saying they have none in stock.

Looks strange.
Two *May be* ideas:
1 - to much toe out \--^--/ <--- axle&wheels seen from top. Driving direction: ^
Inner edge tyre wear

2 - to less tyre pressure

That looks more like something rubbing.
Excess camber/ tracking usually gives a more gradual wear pattern.

I think David's right - may be linked to the problem with the ride height at the rear?
Could the spring be bowing outward and rubbing on the tyre?

I would go for 2 ~ i had a simmilar problem on my Honda Accord on the rears at 45,000 miles, the standard camber angle tips the tops of the wheels inwards (wear on inside) and pressures were 30psi ~ handbook says 36psi, which they are now at. tyres were Avon ZV3 and had been on the front for first 10,000 miles.

Tyre pressures were OK and 4 wheel allignment is done regularly.

I tend to corner hard which may not help.

I now have 2 brand new rear Toyos sitting in my garage which cost me less than £60 each.

I will give it a good check over before fitting the new tyres.
