160 engines

Hi all,
Can anyone tell me if the 160 engine is noisier(knocky) at the top end than the 1.8i engine,reason being,Ihave been looking at a ZR160 today for my daily drive and it is noisier than my 1.8 F although the ZR only has 24000 miles compared to the Fs 54000.

I think your a little confused. The 160 engine is a 1.8i. it is also a VVC engine which sometime tend to be a little noisier than a non VVC engine. So the ZR160 you have been looking at is a VVC where as your F is a non VVC which tend to be not as noisy. God ive confused myself now.
Thats why your F may sound quieter than the ZR. The VVC mechanism can sound noisy but as the engine gets hotter and the oil gets around the lifters it will get quieter

A lot of VVC engines(the 160 is one) are noisy on the top end. :yesnod:

And when very noisy sound like a diesel at idle getting quieter as you rev them
