Guys,
I followed David's guide to reseting the EPAS sensor over the weekend, all was going well until i couldn't undo the torx 25 screw on the far side of the cover plate. Its a bugger to get any leverage onto and if i forgo a screwdriver with Torx bit and use a wrench it just slips. I gave up with the fear of rounding the screw completely. Any thoughts? at the moment i am thinking of the following actions:-
1 Borrow Dremel and try and cut a groove in head to fit normal crew driver
2 If option 1 fails try anbd cut head completely off as this is just a cover plate to stop you messing with the stiff inside.
3 Nobble the EPAS with a cut out switch so i only use it for parking
4 do nothing!
My concern with the Dremel route is setting the car on fire with sparks under the dash - cannot be a good thing, any suggestions gratefully received.

Have you moved the fusebox?
Also some of the torx bolts are 'special' in that they have a little pin in the middle. This means that a standard torx bit won't grip properly.
I had this problem with one car, and then I realised they were these special bolts.

Thanks for the quick response, i dropped the fuse box completely out of the way so had unrestricted access ( as best you can get). The torx bolt at the front was a bit stiff but did loosen so i am assuming they are the same type, maybe i just need to try and lock some moles on the bit and use the screw driver to apply the downwards force to stop it slipping. its a pain as the problem and fix were clearly described in your "how to" and i never anticipated an hour on my knees stuck at just undoing a bolt...
Could his be down to unlike metals as i see the bolt is steel threading into a alloy case, maybe some wd40 could help?

I've never had a problem other than as above. Some plusgas or releasing spray could help.
I have a set of torx keys(L shaped, like allen keys) and these allow you to put a lot more torque() into the bolt.
I believe the bolts with the little central pin are 'anti-tamper' torx bolts.

Thanks for the photo Dieter! :yesnod:
That clearly shows the 'ant-tamper' type of torx bolt.

Dieter, that's the cover plate I have although I have not been able to see it that clearly as your photo. However, I cannot remember what my Torx bit set looks like as I am now in Istanbul on biz, i will have to check when I get back and maybe get some Ebay action going. Thanks to all!

Guys, fresh attack today and with a combination of screw driver + spanner managed to apply downforce and torque to release the little ****r that was stuck. I then found out i had a 6 wire terminal so had to use trial and error rather than the multimeter approach to calibrate. I am now and expert in stripping down the fuse box carrier and cover plate for EPAS sensor. Great news is the fix works and car now has same load to turn left and right....
Many thanks to all your help and guidance.
