Thanks for taking the trouble to reply. The car has a barrel lock on the passenger side.
I have two keys and two remote fobs, but no EKA. The immobiliser functions as you describe. The
alarm does not appear to respond to movement but is activated when the door is opened.
The VIN is SARRDMBEB3D614212
Thanks
The email should have worked could you check that it was [email protected] that you used?
will get back to you on details from VIN,
We all know Mike Satur  hope he treated you well

I have determined from the Vin number that you gave me for your car that it was manufactured as a standard TF 115 with the 1.6 trophy engine giving 115bhp and with a manual gearbox. It is model year 2003, production of which commenced in July 2002 and from the number 614212 was probably made in December 2002 (an actual manufacturing date certificate can be obtained for the cost of £100) The serial number for the engine should read 16K4FP23 ***** (the stars being the actual number).
Therefore your car would have come out of the factory without remote central locking or an internal volumetric alarm, but with an external lock barrel on the passenger door. The wiring and connections were already in place for central locking, so I can only think that an lock with motor has not been fitted to the passenger door, or it doesn’t work! As David has said, the only way to tell is to look inside the door to see if it is there and connected.
You should also have the EKA code which allows you access to the car and de activates the immobiliser. this can be obtained from MG Rover codes www.mgrovercodes.com for £15 if you give them the VIN
Hope this all helps.
