Mirror Questions

The easiest way will (hopefully) be to replace the mirror backs with the ones off my old manual mirrors. My question here is, Are the backs on the manual mirrors the same as the manual mirrors?...and, how do you change them?
If this involves removing the mirrors from the door I will paint them instead. (Which I really don't want to do as it's too cold out to get a decent finish.)
The other option is to fit a pair of Lotus carbon fibre mirror covers off E-Bay. The question here is...Are the Lotus Exige mirrors the same as my MGF power mirrors?
Any info appreciated!
Thanks,
Rich
EDIT: I just did some surfing through the Lotus forums. Man! There is some cool stuff available for their cars!
It seems that MGF/TF mirrors are the same as Lotus Elise/Exige so it looks like the carbon covers will fit! :woohoo: I also found a useful mod...the Multivex Mirror. It is a pair of high tech lenses that you add to your sideview mirrors to greatly improve their field of vision (particularly important in a Lotus where there is SBA vision out the rear window...even worse than the glass rear window on my MGF!) I was all set to buy a set at $83.00 (about 60 quid) when the checkout showed $30. for shipping rather than the $7.00 in the info section. I have asked them to confirm the shipping so we'll see what they say!

One of the F's I thought of buying had checkered flag vinyl covers on them, didn't much car for them.
I found the door mirrors on the F's "wierd" at first but couldn't put my finger on why right away. Then it dawned on me both were convex mirrors, whereas in Canada on the passenger side the mirror is convex, and the driver's side is a normal perspective mirror.

I still haven't received a reply with the shipping pricing. That will be the deciding factor if I buy a set as i'm not paying 30 bucks for postage!

Or, if you can wait a while, I'll be to Romulus around the end of the year and could pick them up for you, that is if they have a parts counter.

Be careful of those Romulans! They're always causing trouble in Star Trek. :yesnod: :coat:

I am going to order the carbon fibre covers.
If I don't like them I should be able to flog them to a Lotus owner
