Stuck HT leads (Solved).

Today, whilst investigating a 'clunk' which may have been coming from an engine mount, I decided to rip the ht leads out. The wire pulled straight out through the rubber housing which stayed in place. After some massive force with pliers and a shattering of the plastic cap, they eventually gave and came out. So, I changed two of them and replaced the spark plugs with iridium ones.
Oh, and the clunk may have been me not bolting the engine cover in place correctly the last time I was under there. As it seems to have gone away now. Fingers crossed.
I won't mention leaving a socket spanner on the engine and driving to the car parts store , only to hear another clunk as it disappeared onto the road via the engine, which was merrily clicking away on 3 cylinders. lmao.. my boy found it on the way back using his eagle eyed vision. :broon:

 a Homer award is a must for this one! :broon: the engine cover is a structural panel and stiffens the body, it is important that all of the bolts are put back and correctly tightened :bust:

From what I could see, they were all ok. I'm off for a drive now, as I don't want to wait until my journey to work tomorrow, to see if the clunk has gone.bryan young wrote: Did you check the engine mounting??? i will post a picture later of a failed engine mounting on a 2003 TF, one bolt sheared first then the second went :bust:

Yes i posted it ages ago (dim and distant past) still dont know why it happened  was not loose bolts because they are firmly fixed in the bottom of the mount, but if it was checked at the first notice of "clunking" the first sheared bolt would have been found. Watch this space!!!!
