Maybe its the design philosophy that is older - an MGF/TF is generally considered a modern classic as is the MX5 because their basic designs are nigh on 20 years old. I'd maybe say the Elise is a classic, but not the Veyron. I'd put it as a future classic - still to youthful to me! And I'm in the NOT a classic side for Allegro, Marina etc. I did my driving lessons in an Allegro - dreadful car!
I can own up to having an Austin Allegro, i got it very very cheap as a two year old ex-company car, only used for short journeys and had done less than 30K ~ i paid £200 for it, got much more for it a few years later, i didnt think it was a horrid car and cost very little to run. the downside was that it was white and always looked dirty :rant: vowed that i would never have another white car a so far havent :yesnod:
