Tsleight wrote: What is a classic car? Great question! And some excellent answers too. It just goes to show that there is no simple answer. In my opinion its a mixture of the comments above. Maybe its the design philosophy that is older - an MGF/TF is generally considered a modern classic as is the MX5 because their basic designs are nigh on 20 years old. I'd maybe say the Elise is a classic, but not the Veyron. I'd put it as a future classic - still to youthful to me! And I'm in the NOT a classic side for Allegro, Marina etc. I did my driving lessons in an Allegro - dreadful car! :P

I can own up to having an Austin Allegro, i got it very very cheap as a two year old ex-company car, only used for short journeys and had done less than 30K ~ i paid £200 for it, got much more for it a few years later, i didnt think it was a horrid car and cost very little to run. the downside was that it was white and always looked dirty  vowed that i would never have another white car a so far havent :yesnod:

I've had a few white cars. I was the proud owner of one of these. 3.0litre manual Ghia

The word classic means something that is a perfect example of a particular style, something of lasting worth or with a timeless quality. Thats from Wikipedia and its not bad.

My Lotus Elan Plus 2 and Spitfire were both white. I think black is worse because dirt tends to be very pale when it dries. White isn't as bad as you think!

Is that a Lotus badge on the Crayford Cortina rear wing? I remember seeing a Lotus Crayford being advertised for about £450 in about 1976. i wish I could have afforded that!

By the way if a TR7 is not a classic then neither is the MGF/TF.

Yes that is a Lotus Cortina convertible!

I use the TR7 as a great example of why people will never agree what a Classic is. :nonod:
