Is this the most unreliable part ? was created by PQD44

I reckon this is the most unreliable part on my MGF.

It has only function and fails miserably at it

If it did not work at all then at least it would be useful twice a day.

As it stands it just moves continuously but not at the rate it should. :nonod:

I did go to get a replacement, when asked why I wanted one by MGFnTF Bitz they said, don't waste your money, most of them don't work

So here is the offending item....

How does yours do?

Weirdly,
I would say the clock in ours has been ultra reliable. Touch wood. It is the mk2 F version which I'm led to believe is the best version.

I keep thinking about having matching oil temp and oil pressure gauges, so the clock could be up for grabs,,,,

Mine is also the Mk2 clock. Since I have a clock on the Radio I'm not to worried about the clock and may at some stage replace the dials, but in the meantime if you do replace yours give me a shout

I think the clock is fine, ... most of them :broon:

If there would be a survey on the unreliability matter I'd vote for the sunvisor.
Special the one on the female driver side. Nothing against the gals, but MGF sunvisor is really not designed for daily use nor use by gals. :(

Got to say clock on mine has been accurate (TF), but it's an hour out at the moment because I can't be bothered to change from BST. It'll be right again in about four months though.
Sunvisor ... I've given up with that and keep a peaked cap handy for such occasions.

So far so good with mine, and it's quite easy to adjust with a pencil. The biggest problem with mine was the Pektron BCU fitted to the later cars. I had to fit a new relay to regain control of the drivers window. Luckily it stuck closed.
I still wouldnt swap the car for a Toyoto Coralla, and the throttle control has been 100% relaible on my car B)

I would love to know why the clock is so unreliable so that I could sort mine.

My Mk 1's clock has been very reliable and keeps good time to boot.

Funny, my car came with no spares except for a passenger side sun visor, which has now replaced the one that was on the car when I bought it. Other than moving them once when I got the car home after buying it, they have not been touched, what with sunglasses I see no need to ever use them.

I took off the oem sunvisors and binned them. I bought a set of Alfa GTV visors for £20. They are a pretty good fit and a/. Don't fall to bits and b/. work effectively. :yesnod:

I'm with Paul of this, the clock is crap..... cannot even be right 2x a day since it moves in a strange version of MG time. Plan is to replace it with a Voltmeter since that might have some use, just have to find the best match (Lucas classic with magnolia face looks about right).
