Hello
Hi all just joined at the suggestion of Adam who I met today. Im new not only to the forum but also to MGF's. My venture is my profile picture. It supposedly has a failed head gasket but ive been advised to check a couple of things before i strip it too far. So far i have removed the exhaust its shot. Cleaned the leather interior removed the top cam cover. The car is non VVC so its going to be relatively normal to me. The car had no coolant in it but did run albeit on three cylinders. Plugs are now out and no obvious signs of contamination. Perhaps compression test is next. I have a replacement exhaust but need to cut nuts and bolts off the cat and downpipe so that can go back on. So thats me hope i dont bug you too much but you never know.
Thank You

 Welcome again Neil,
You're in the right place and never worry about asking questions, the only dumb question is the one you don't ask :broon:
Sounds like you have a bit of a project there, you said 'The car is non VVC so its going to be relatively normal to me.' Have you had a K-Series car before?
I see you're in Barnet, North London, bit far for me to pop over and give you a hand but will give as much on-line support as I can.

Look after your MGF and, as I have found, you will get reliability and so so So Much pleasure out it, :yesnod:
Be warned this could be the start of a long term relationship :woohoo:

As you can see Neil, they are a very friendly and knowledgable bunch on here. I haven't had a chance to meet anyone yet, but If I want to ask anything then this is always my first port of call! Good luck with your F. I've had mine for about 6 months and still needs TLC but the engine is great! So much torque from low down - mines a VVC with over 100000 miles. I mistakenly put it in 4th today instead of 2nd at less than 20 mph, but it still pulled away. I love it! Just wish I had more money available for "projects"...
