I replaced mine this fall with one I got from MGOC that looks like the second one you have a picture of, I believe it came in a Q&H box. Are these ones known not to hold pressure or to fail prematurely?

What does it look like underneath?

If so they do fail prematurely.

I tried a yellow version similar to the second shape, the underside/inside looks like this



The pressure is controlled by these springs


Not too impressive either.

The underneath of the OEM has a brass insert in the centre.

BTW Don't like the look of the expansion tank in the first image of the post, it looks a very odd colour :dry:

I'm glad that I carry the one that came on the car as a spare in the boot, I mean bonnet...up front with the spare wheel.
