Hi all,

With the new MOT rules coming into force on 1st jan 2012,i have a small problem with my dash board hand brake/fluid warning light, in that it does not work and has not for 3 years,i have removed the dash and changed the bulb, check the fuses(all of the ones i could see)
The light was working when i got the car because i had a faulty caliper and had that repaired and haven't seen the light on since. Is there a fuse somewhere i am missing.

Any suggestions guys

Does any one no of any garages in cumbria who will blow up my suspension !!

Thanks

As Bryan says, I have Russell coming up on 17th and he can do pump ups. pm me and I'll give you my address if you want to come over.
Alternatively, I use Peter Allison Auto Repairs, High Moor Farm Garage, How Mill, Brampton. He is brilliant!

Warning light problem, it could be the handbrake switch has failed. Sometimes the spring breaks inside the switch(mine did).

There's a second *switch* inside the expansion tank on the brake master cylinder.
Either the handbrake lever or the level of brake fluid puts the wire to earth and the light to red.
Just screw off the brake fluid cap to check whether the circuit is working in principals.

Well gents just a up date,

The brake *switch* inside the expansion tank on the brake master cylinder was sticking ,so pushing the plunger a couple of times soon sorted that.

The other problem was the handbrake light switch under the gaiter,This was the wire connector had came of the brake switch(what a pig to get back on)

All working great now,so thanks for the advice.

Regards

Ian

Glad it is sorted, however I don't think this warning light falls under the MOT, new or old.
