It's vital for all MGF built before YD511059 :omg:
We found this issue back in 2004. Been on a trip in the Alps with 30 cars and my MGF coolant boiled when I parked her at the first pass, stop at Penser Joch.
Thought it's the dreaded head gasket, but after some investigation with help of Tony ( http://www.apttony.co.uk/index_MGF.html ) we found the front fan sticky and the Fuse F2 had blown.
Made the fan rotation again by hand and replaced fuse with a 20Amp type after comparing my fuse panel cover with another friends TF parking beside mine.

and

scroll down to F2
:yesnod:
btw. as another precaution against a blown fuse F2 I put a buzzer parallel to the fuse
In case my fan gets stuck again and the even the 20Amp blows then the buzzer will make noise.

:yesnod: Uprate the fan fuses to 20 amp. Helps prevent them blowing if the fan is a bit stiff on start up. MGR did it in later TFs.

That's a good idea! :yesnod: Do you have a wiring diagram?

Thanks to deiter for the tip regarding the 20 amp fuse, job done, have a low level coolant alarm coming soon, have sorted the stuck on brake lights thanks to another dieter tip, and will upload some pictures of the beautiful devon landscape when it stops pouring down!! Still, has helped me identify a leaky door seal so another job to do!

Clip off upper cover of the front fuse panel

Bolt panel back in place
Remove the hex-screw at the plus connection.
Crimp sleave connector to red wire and bolt red wire with sleave to plus

Reconnect battery, synchronize alarm blipper with four times keying a button.
Test:
Put ignition on
Pull fuse F2.
---->Buzzer should come off :woohoo:
Put back Fuse F2
<---Buzzer silent. :woohoo:

If the Buzzer is sounding ongoing ... check wether F2 is broken :)

With your permission Dieter, I'll copy this into the How to A-Z. :yesnod:
Could you just say what you mean by a 'Y connector'? I'm not familiar with that term. :-?
