A Unique MGF - Bet you've never seen one of these was created by PQD44

This last weekend has been a very busy one, what with one of my daughters wedding followed by a reception for 425 guests. However it began with a visit to a mechanics back street garage to collect a 'new' wiper motor after mine decided to stop moving.

In his garage the mechanic had a gold MGF freshly polished and looking very smart.

The part I was after was in a side room which had a large box full of MGF parts, drive shafts, suspension parts, exhaust and many more. After getting the wiper mechanism I enquired about the donor car, a silver MGF sitting under a pile of cardboard and interior trim.

"I'm putting a V6 in it" peering into the empty engine bay I enquired as to which engine he would be putting in it.

"It's in" he replied, gesturing towards the front of the car

:omg: What, moving a large piece of cardboard from over the front revealed the Ford V6

Please excuse the quality of the photo's my phone had been set to take a close up and I forgot in my haste to get a snap to change it.

Going to the side and having a look in You could see the back end of the gearbox through a cut out in the front bulk head.

"....and it's going to be four wheel drive, see here's the rear diff" he said pointing it out on the floor under the car, waiting to be fitted.

I am sending him details of our forum as he was interested in what other people had done and wanted info the KN Splitter and stripes on mine, so further details may be added in time.

This is obviously still a way of running but will be an interesting project to follow.

Definitely unique!
Very interesting too, one has to kinda ask why, but then again why not!

Reception for 425 guests?
Ruddy hell! Am getting married next may and am having a fit over the cost of 75 guests!

I'm sure he knows what he is doing, but it isn't something I would do.

The car is designed for the engine to be mid mounted. The whole car is design around this concept. You are now moving the majot mass over the front wheels. The suspension and subframe were never designed to take that sort of weight.

He may stumble on a combination that works, but my bet is you will lose the nimble handling of the F/TF and could end up with a pig. But it will be an interesting one to watch.

Talkingcars, you are correct.

All of the front end steering and suspension was removed and suspension replaced I have a final pic, again poor quality, sorry

There was a lot of new welding and sub frame fabrication going on too.
