We've been tidying up the guidance section (the orange 'How to' button on the left side of your screen). It's looking great and generates a lot of site activity. I'm now looking for some additional 'how to' guides, if anybody feels up to it. There's no rush, some time this year will be fine. :)

Anything will be good. But pics are required please. You don't need to be a mechanic when you have nice pictures. ;)

For example, right now specifically, it would be nice to add a 'how to' relating to the car battery. Fitting (removal, replacement), servicing, cleaning, greasing. - You get the picture. That section is currently vacant, probably due to it being an easy job for most members here. But think of it from a novices point of view and you will see the need for one.

So, I'll start the wish list on good 'how to' guides I would like to see. Others opinions may vary, so add them if you like. :)

Please list your own ideas below and I will edit it to the list.
1. Claying (looking for a guide with some great pics). Preferrably of a members car.
2. Battery.

*** Remember please, if you are adding some new chrome bling, or an aerial topper or doing something interesting to your car, we always like to see pics of how you did it. :) ***

Browse the existing guides and feel free to contribute some updates, or alternative new pics on them if you like.

Cheers
Leigh

Great post, Leigh.

If John(what's a spanner?) Red Devil can produce a how to, then so can you! (No offence, John ;) )

As complicated, as simple, as serious, or as light-hearted as you like - all efforts welcome. :yesnod:

Great thread Leigh. Is there a how to jack up your MGF/TF? If not it would be a god idea to do one showing the correct jacking up points etc,

Great idea. This is just the kind of thing we're looking for. It's just one of those things that you never think about until a tyre goes 'pop'. Looking forward to seeing the pics. :)

Make sure you do it on a new thread though please RD. thanks.

In the next couple of weeks I have:

A whole hood to replace.
A whole exhaust system to replace from manifold all the way through to backbox with a de-cat pipe thrown in for good measure.

I'll take lots of pictures and even try to cover the simple stuff such as jacking points, de-rusting and probably grinding off of exhaust bolts etc. Will put them up and the site moderators can pick and choose what makes it to the "how to" section. I see there are already a few in there in regards to the exhaust system.

It's always good to get an alternative viewpoint on things. Even if they're the same thing. ;)

Talking of Jacking points, I have a couple of useful diagrams

My Mk2 F has an additional, very handy central jacking point at the rear too
highlighted in orange here.

I only use the 2 central jacking points as each raises one end of the car.

Personally, I would never use the sills to jack up the car, except in dire need.

Would you mind starting a 'How to jack your car up correctly' thread, using this diagram please David. Then members can add some pics of their own to display the diagram jacking points pictorially.

I'll stick it in the how to section, if you like.

I, for one, didn't realise there were so many jacking points.

Jacking up an MGF or MGTF car - Correct 'Jack up' points on an MGF or MGTF car.

Ok, it's started. So, if any members have some reasonable pics of those jacking points in use then we'd like to have them for the how to. Or, if anybody fancies taking some pics as a 'first timer' on the 'how to' scene then please give it a go. :)

I'll beef this particular how to up with some ramps and axle stand pics from other threads a bit later. ;)
