Exhaust change.

Exhaust change. was created by Luckymarine

So all my bits came the other day so thought I'd crack on and get it done.

Changed from OEM to Scorpion back box. First impressions of the back box were good, its made well, all the welds are of a good quality and the stainless steel shines up very easily.
The coupling to the cat is of good thickness, and the clamps for the finishers are of a good quality.

Also fitted the Toyosport manifold and downpipe, also well made, the welds are a little thicker but look good. Needed a little fettling just to smooth off a few sharp edges but nothing drastic. Comes with all the bolts needed and some good quality gaskets.

Took quite a bit of grinding and sawing to get the old manifold to part company with the cat but managed to split them apart eventually.

Changed the nuts around the cat for the cat saving type as I have a de-cat being delivered soon, just need to get through the MOT with the legal one on first.

Pleased with the overall look of the system, also sounds deeper, not Saxo with a scaffolding bar welded to the exhaust loud but more refined.
Hardest part was tightening the 6 bolts of the downpipe on my own, the nuts come with a spring washer and getting the washer and nut onto the thread whilst trying to stop the bolt turning caused me to blaspheme a few times.

I did turn the pictures the proper way round on my photobucket account but for some reason some of them are still lop sided.

Looks good, and I look forward to hearing it on the next Border Patrol run! :yesnod:

Those six bolts clamping the manifold to the downpipe are definitely a pain in the neck on your own.
Two man (person) job, assuredly!

Once it gets on the next Boarder Patrol run it should be de-catted so might sound a little different. Also waiting on the new hood with the glass screen, am sick of having to scrape ice off the inside of the windscreen as moisture is getting in through the cracked plastic screen. Although I have been waiting a year to do that!

That looks very nice and a good job. Impressed with your photo's, it's not easy photographing under a car well done.

Looking forward to hearing it on the next Border Patrol run ;)

Ebay, was £161.00 + £10.00 delivery for manifold and downpipe including all the bolts and gaskets needed. Only thing I had to reuse was the manifold studs but then they are a decent fit so had no issues with that.
Fitting was simple enough, even though the flex section is slightly shorter than OEM it still clears everything it needs to.

I dont really have anything to record sound on at the moment but I'll work on it. (I'm not at all waiting till I have the de-cat on.....)

It's also worth pointing out that the firm often has auctions running on ebay for this package.
I know that some people have won for less than the above price.

In addition it might be a good time to swap any old 4 bolter for the better 6 bolt version. They're both the same price.

According to the sellers information the four bolt versions are for pre year 2000 MGF's as the shape of the down pipe is different on the four and six bolt versions.

If I'm taking drivel please feel free to let me know what this all about
