heated rear screen
New to this sight but have owned MG's for 5 years. I have just put my current 1998 MGF back on the road after a year. After connecting the battery the rear screen heater switch light stays on all the time even with the engine not runing and if i disconnect at the screen. I took the relay out and put 12v across it and it clicked. Need advice.

Hi :welcome2:
The HRW should only be able to work with the engine running, so it looks like there may be a fault in the switch itself.
Do you have a multi meter and are you confident enough to take the plug out of the switch and test each pin for volts with the ignition on?

A relay can click and not work.
The input side can be working and operating the electromagnet, hence you hear a 'click'. This should connect the output side and the relay do the job it was designed to do, however the output side connection may be damaged or burnt out hence the connection is not made.

Normally a clicking relay should be Ok, but all you've really shown is that the relay is switching. There could still be a fault within preventing the current passing to the HRW. You need to check the relay for continuity in clicked and unclicked positions.
My bet would be a fault in the switch, but have you checked to see if you have 12 volts to the HRW when the switch is lit?
