High Level Brake Light was created by bensewell

Mines not working. Was going to sort it while I was having a good time with the glow fuses but was scared of popping it off and causing some damage.

Is this light replaceable or is it time for a new unit all together?

Check that its not just a faulty wire or connection to make sure it really is kaput. The light is made up of LEDs so it could just be a question of replacing one or two. Most people tend to buy a new unit.

The F hi-level brake light comes apart easily, and uses replaceable bulbs.
The TF is more difficult to take apart and uses leds.

Check that the light is actually getting a live feed from the brakelights before assuming the unit is defective.

When mine failed it was the wires in the loom by the nearside boot hinge. Its badly designed and they are stressed as you open and close it. some people splice in an extra 10 cms. i just remade the connections with crimped terminals and did not wrap that part of the loom again so they had room to flex. Before cutting the amalgamting tape I spiked the wires to the light with pins and checked the LEDs were good with the DVM.
If I can find a pic I will post it.
Here it is

Ben mark is right, one of the fix's most end up doing !!
The harness gets split and the wires frayed from the boot action, if its not that still tape it up after ensuring they are all working correctly :broon:

Thanks Again :) :bust:

I will try this later. I'm just writing up a how-to on some of the things i've been getting up to recently.

Yesterday was new heater knobs, swapping oil + clock rings round.
Today was glow-fuses, well some of them
Tomorrow is fix your brake light, Look at the Engine Management Light, fit roof band assister things and maybe as a special request by softly softly the aqua aerobic foam thing.

And for all those folk who remembered my mishap involving locking keys in the boot I've a document that I think i need to email round a few of the admins.

When I'm tinkering with the TF know I always make sure the keys are around my neck on a chain.

Did you just extend all the wires a bit here?
