I would not be interested in an MG6, but then again I wouldn't be interested in a 5 seater saloon of any kind.
As to whether the mg6 represents what I think of as MG. Nope!
I may be ploughing a lone furrow here but I've always thought of MG as producing Ragtop sports cars; in its time, some of the most iconic British sports cars actually.
I was never a fan of tarting up Rovers/ British Leyland/ Austin or whatever and re-badging them as MG.
I apologize if I offend anyone with these views.:dunno:

I almost bought a ZR when they first came out but decided against it for some reason and now I like the facelift ZS 180 - ZT is nice to - especially the V8:)

Every time I see the MG6 photos I like it more. Especially in red with the spoked wheels. I don't know if I would buy one only because a family saloon/hatch is not my thing. My wife drives the family car (Freelander) and its likely to be replaced with another Land Rover.

Excellent pic! I have to say I love the front but the rear has yet to grow on me.

I hope for the sake of the company it does well, if they get the emissions right it could at least do well in the fleet market.
I will definately check it out when its finally in the dealers though.

The MG6 looks no more or no less special than any other Proton type car and that is my problem with it. Are they dragging the marque down to the cheap car sector? Don't get me wrong, if that car was released with an engine giving it 0-60 of 6 secs then it would change my view a bit, but somehow I doubt it.

The MG6 - hmmm.... I'm undecided. As a car I think it's a great looking family saloon. Plus although it actually came to life under the guise of the Chinese it is in fact a remodel of the car that MGR were working on before they went bust, so its roots are securely planted in the UK. So far I think it looks just a little too far east to be a true MG... it's a pity Land Rover wouldn't let Nanjing buy the Rover name back (whch they will never use at Land Rover anyway) as the MG6 would be great as a new style Rover. After all Rover were always looking to push the envelope of their designs - take the SD1 for example, a groundbreaking car in its time.. then then the Princess, the forerunner to all bubble/wedge shaped saloons.
