Having been intimately involved in a world wide media frenzy a few years ago, I know it does not matter what the actual facts are the media, the "experts" and every other Tom, Richard and Harry will have their say regardless of the truth and without a second thought for the damage they may cause to the lives of individuals guilty or innocent. The modern media are by and large a perverse monster, but a monster created by our society.

Exactly. And I often think that they have so much power that they can mold the outcome to suit themselves.
