What is the best way to de-ice the back window in the F? Is covering it with de-icer bad for it? I've spent the last two days driving to work without being able to see out the back because I didn't know how to get it off.

I've also noticed the steering wheel makes my paws really cold. (Wuss) Does anyone know of a nice looking steering wheel cover that won't look stupid?

I don't de-ice. Not sure what effect the chemicals will have on the plastic long term. Really, the best answer is to fit a glass rear screen with heater element.

Have you thought about gloves instead of a steering wheel cover?

I'm after a glass rear screen, but at the moment I can't afford to eat! Plus, every time I get Flopsy a present, she has a sick...

I did think about gloves, but I'm a smoker and I would set fire to myself!

Looks like I'll have to stick with not being able to see out the back!

You get used to it. I drive vans anyway, so not a biggy for me.

Try warm water poured over the outside of the rear window.
Also try a set of fingerless gloves for keeping the paws warm.:snow:

I've never driven anything without a back window, so it seems bizarre to me!

Plan and a half! I think I may have some fingerless gloves somewhere. I thought about trying water on the window, but I didn't know if it would crack the plastic because of the change in temperature.

Dont bother with the rear screen, just use your mirrors. The plastic is so brittle when cold i wouldnt risk it.

I'll give it a go in the morning if I'm brave enough!

I really hate not seeing out the back, it's all wierd!

Hard top?! Are you nuts! If I could afford a hard top, I'd buy a glass rear screen and spend the rest on me! :yesnod:

buy a small 12v fan heater and then use the plug for the HT to power it. it will slowly warm up the rear screen and help demist too!
