I'm starting a boot lid build.. Will take about 60 hours to build (only an estimate)
First job.... Why is the seam on the back of the TF boot lid? Cost... So first up remove the paint with a wire brush bit in a drill
The seam will then be welded up and ground back and smoothed
The key lock is a fav place for rust to start and looks ugly... So same treatment for that
Sheet steel will be cut and welded in
Same goes for the centre bake light
It's too will have plate welded in and smoothed
Badge holes will be welded up too.. Holes welded up
The boot vents are being doubled too..
JDL spoiler bonded on and smoothed in..
Will post update pics if there is any interest

These are things I have planned, but I was going to get the boot moulded in CF or fibre glass once finished.
Just hope it doesn't take as long as the bonnets.

I was always put off by the fact that no one has built one that uses the existing boot catch.. So they use pins etc
Metal is cheap and repairing it is simple
But would deffo opt for carbon or fibre glass if there was one that used the standard boot catch

I now have a boot lit that opens fully on its own once the popper is popped
The boot lid will not blow down in the wind either
VW Jeta gas struts used (same as my under bonnet ones)
