Engine Bay Cooling Fan (No Switch)

Just hooking-up and testing the final bits and pieces and I have just noticed the engine bay fan themo-switch is missing and no spare plug or provision in the harness for the connection.

When the engine was removed I also took out the engine bay cooling fan for cleaning and painting, I ran it from a battery to check the brushes and bearings which were fine.
On my 03 Sunstorm you check the function of the switch with a hairdryer to test the fan; is the fan now redundant on my 05 Stepspeed, I couldn't see the factory fitting the fan if it’s never going to run, but where is the signal coming from to energize it?
Attached is an image of the blank space for the switch but there is no evidence of one ever been fitted.

It's my understanding that on later TF's the bay fan operates with the main rad fan, ie no separate sensor. This is ours is configured. Hope this helps.

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

I ran the engine yesterday while topping up the coolant and kept it idling until the rad fans switched in; I never checked the engine bay fan at that time as I din't think they were related; also the ambient air temp was quite low so I would never have thought to check (unusually cold for Cornwall yesterday) However I will run the same test tomorrow morning and feedback. Thanks.

Spot-on (again) I ran the engine up this morning until the rad fans kicked in and the engine bay fan runs; obvoiusly from the same info from the coolant sensor.

Not sure why this has changed on later models and could not argue the logic either way as some positives and negatives for both systems.

The bottom line is; it works.

Thanks for your help.
