the first thing you see in F1 when there is a big smash is it all splintering into a million expensive pices :o lol

If the subframe is exposed to the forces that would cause it to splinter then I would assume that there wouldn't be much left of the car anyway, and your expensive titanium subframe would be bent beyond use. It may splinter when an F1 car crashes, but they still use it, and for a reason.

I would actually say that the carbon fibre subframe could withstand low level forces better than metal as it would spring back into shape, unlike metal that would just bend.

hmm never thought of that!

i guess the only way to know for certain is to ask some companies that could do it... not that i'd know where to start but it's going to be a few years before i could afford them anyway! lol

I have used Amercoat PSX 700 for a while now for protecting race car chassis, you can use it with or without a zinc primer it is a polyeurathane polymer and sets into a flexible layer.

Dont mind if people are willing to learn :-)
Its basically a too stage process which is applied to bare metal. First you spray on the zinc primer which is zinc suspended in a paint which forms a chemical bond with the metal. So its a chemical equivalent to galvanising without the heat issues. Then you coat it with the Amercoat which is a clear spray on polymer paint which is corrosion, chemical and fire resistant. Moderately expensive but hyper effective. Simples!!!
