Most come with adaptor rings.

Think it's about 50mm

Yes, either direct or with an elbow.

As Andy says the hose goes over the throttle body opening & secured with a Jubilee clip.
Presume you have the kit that includes 2 flexible tubes that draw air from underneath the car & blow onto the filter. These are secured by long cable ties to suitable body fittings, but the alignment needs checking every so often.

Are you saying just putting a cone type filter on the end of the throttle body is not a good idea as will be using hot air from the engine ????

John,

The cone filter straight to TB will give an improvement in performance but is limited by the fact it will draw in hot engine bay air. Ideally you want the Cone enclosed in some way with a pipe going to the side air intake, or in the case of K&N 2 pipes running out of the bottom of the engine bay and directed forwards. In my car I ran a large pipe (100mm) direct from the intake up to the cone filter, however I have scoops fitted so under driving conditions cooler outside air is forced into the engine bay and onto the K&N. This is not ideal... but does a job for a fraction of the cost of the full enclosed Cone filters with CAF.

your car is an "F" so a K&N cone will come with a rubber connect hose to connect the filter to the throttle body The only thing that is wrong with the kit as such is the connecting hose has a 70 degree turn in it and any turn creates a loss of power I think £ for£ per hp gained you are better off with a panel K&N filter as this is inclosed in the OE box you can then put a cold air feed into the OE box A panel filter is £38 for 4ish BHP or £90 for a cone for 7ish BHP

I would go for K&N as they are the market leaders, the others copy them

John

I have a K&N panel filter that I've just taken out of my mk1 F. It's only been on for about 1000 miles so is still pretty clean. You can have it if you want. PM me with your address and I'll put it in the post.

I changed it for a Pipercors PK091 cone filter that I got for £36 plus p&p from David Manners Group. This one doesn't have a cold air feed like the more expensive induction kits but I'm fairly convinced it gives more power than the KN panel, job. It's certainly NOISIER!

Ive got my cone filter on the end of the original tubing. I think a few people run them like this. Sounds awesome but is apparently not so good for performance. Has been ok for me and not noticed any power loss in my driving.

Ive seen an article somewhere that u can use a paint can to make your own induction kit.. rather fancy trying that at some time.
