Engine Bay Fan was created by bacchus

It has just occurred to me that I have never seen or heard the engine bay fan operate. The car doesn't over heat and has never lost coolant if fact it operates perfectly even after a really hard on track work our. Should I be concerned and if so is there any test I can do for the fan operation?

Mine comes on all the time, though only when I stop. Never when I'm moving.

Craig,
If you disconnect the sensor(it sits slightly forward of the expansion tank) the fan should come on all the time.
I'll see if I can find a piccy of the sensor.:yesnod:

Ah there you go!

Mine comes on fairly regularly in the summer. I believe the fan kicks in earlier on an Mpi than it does on a VVC

The fan normally kicks in when the sensor reads 75° C on an Mpi and 85°C on a VVC
It stops at 60°C (all data depend on the individual ECU timing !).

Make sure fuse 6 is not blown ;)

Now I have tested it and know it works I have to say I can barely hear it over my D&T exhaust even at idle.

Mine is huge.

The engine fan is pretty big, too.
