Reversing lights

Hi all,

So I picked up some underpriced three ring lights off of flebay ( the black ones not the bilingy chrome ones) knowing they had a stud missing. Several layers of araldite later and hey presto ready to fit, easy change no hassle. Then I get my good lady to check them, everything ok but no reverse lights! Plugged the old lights back in, still no lights. :bang:

Lights themselves eliminated, where does a novice start, I suspect there is a switch but where? How do I get to it? Would they be on its own fuse? Any thoughts appreciated.

Do you know if the reversing lights are working before you did the swap? First thing I'd check would be your body side plug in case a wire has been pulled loose or broken. Other than that, I suppose I'd check the gearbox switch.

Fuse 16 seems to be reverse in conjunction with stop lights so if those are working at least you can eliminate the easiest problem to solve.

The switch is on the gearbox. If you can locate the plug you can bridge the terminals to see if it is the switch and also check voltages and continuities.

I've only had this F a couple of months and it's spent more time in the garage, I suspect the reversing lights have never worked!

Without sounding daft, is the switch under the car, in through the top, left, right or middle? I don't normaly venture into engines!

The actual switch is on the top towards the front.

It's OK, the picture's not mine. :nonod: It's one of Clive's. :yesnod: When he had his engine out he took loads of useful photos :broon: and I added them to a photo folder called 'useful photos' on the TBar..

Easy enough to access from above with the engine cover off.
