TBF 35 or 40 years ago I used to build my own off road bikes at a time before mountain bikes were a thing, I even rode one to my grans to stay a few days after I did my o levels, best part of a 100 miles each way, each leg done in a day. But then my cousin and her friend upstaged me by cycling from York to Germany, they took their time and did stay in hostels.
