OBD Coolant Alarm
Does anyone use a Bluetooth OBD reader and Torque pro ( or similar) as an engine coolant alarm.
It would appear cheaper and easier than fitting a coolant warning alarm

These things are really easy to fit and just work so well, I couldn't be arsed fiddle bumming about trying to reinvent the wheel.

I fitted an OBD2 Bluetooth adapter to my TF that sends ECU data (engine coolant temperature, fuel flow, timing, etc) to my iPhone using the app Car Scanner ELM OBD2 to interpret. This software lets you set alarm points with audible warning - my car runs around 96C so I have set the alarm point at 105C. Haven't done a substantial road test with the setup as yet so may change alarm point. As some of you may have seen in an earlier post I have also fitted a new Pioneer radio to my car with a popout screen that runs Apple CarPlay so info is available to view as you drive along.
I am not recommending others go down this route, it was just that I had the hardware so thought I would give it a try.

Cool!
Before I invested in a pscan, I used a cheap bluetooth OBD2 reader along with Torque on my phone.
Somebody recently posted brief details on a cheap chinesium touchscreen 1 DIN radio that included Android Auto and CarPlay. The radio has always seemed fairly pointless in the MG TF, as it cannot realistically be heard above the noise when the car is being driven with the hood down. But, the idea of satnav and bluetooth appeals; I am planning on buying one of these radios from AliExpress. Being able to monitor a few engine functions as I go along is another attraction I hadn't thought of
