A minor survey - Heater blower
Hi All
Don't know if its just my car (MGTF 2004) but the heater blowers does not have the power to blow out a candle when on max and directed to the footwell. The same is also for cabin vents and the demist, which takes quite a while for it to do its job.
My question is are your TF blowers the same or is it just mine? Also any suggestions to improve.
I have checked for obstructions but found none.

Mine are as strong as any other car I've had. Maybe your heater resistor pack is wired up incorrectly?

My tf 2005 has a similar issue. Takes ages to demist and not as good as my mgf.

Hi . My 05 TF is as good as any car I've owned . A previous coment about the resistor being wired incorrectly may be spot on as I did just this when fitting separate ceramic resistors. They came with instructions on how to wire them up but the leaflet must have been photo copied many times over which made it very difficult to read . Well that's my excuse !

The heater blower should be pretty powerful.
You will need to check the operation of the moveable vent deflector within the heater body as well as the electrical problem highlighted above.
Does the motor sound powerful when you operate it? If not then suspect an electrical problem
If the motor sounds powerful but not much happens then suspect a blockage in the trunking or the vent is stuck. It's possible the bowden cable from the dial to the vent mech is not adjusted properly.
Remove the triangular kick panel. You should be able to see and hear the deflector moving when you turn the right hand knob.

Hi David
I think you are spot-on. I never realised it but the heater knob to select demist, footwell etc turns was past the footwell graphic. In use I just turned the knob to the image !!!! So as you say the Bowden cable appears to be incorrectly adjusted.
I will re-set the cable then do another test.
Regards to all and thanks.
