Driving lessons were half in a Mini Metro (when they used to call them that!) with instructor, and half in my own Mk1 Mini (with my Dad holding on for dear life!). Then my test was done in the Metro......

Think the driving instructor had a renault clio or something similar. I did my practice in a Ford Focus. My first car was a Ford Escort and then quickly I had a Rover 45, which within 6 months gave me my first taste of HGF. It then lasted three years before it blew again. I then had no car until someone gave me their scrap Peugeot 106. I had this for several months before buying an MG TF. (2012) I had that until 2015 when I traded it against a Kia Ceed SW. Now I have my Kia and the Trophy.

A Ford Anglia, I had 5 lessons, I think, (I know it wasn't many), as a 17th birthday present and, passed first time.

Renault Clio MK2.
Instructor had a diesel which I had all my lessons in, and then turned up on the day of my test in a lower spec petrol one, thankfully I managed to get all the stalling out of the way in the hour lesson before the test.
It was also the first time I'd driven in the rain.
Managed to pass first time though, instructor was brilliant and actually taught to drive rather than just pass the test as per some of the instructors my friends had.

My dear departed Dad didn't have to take a test as he began driving during WW2, when tests were suspended.
He began driving next doors car, a Hillman Wizard. Which research tells me is like a small bus. Age 17, crash gearbox.. Long bonnet. We are not worthy....

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

A Daewoo lanos - R228GYG. I only had 2-3 lessons from my father who was an ex driving instructor for cars and pcv's.
