As standard the MG Trophy came with some 4 pot calipers, correct? My car have these on the front now:
So my question is, why would someone pay to fit 4 pot calipers made by AP racing, when there was already a MG branded version on there? Any added benefits with this caliper over the ones that came on it?
Regards
John

The AP brakes are really good if you look after them.
I remove mine from the wheel hub and take the pads out and give them a clean off and re-grease every year.
I have a spare set (front and back) that are refurbished and painted and ready to fit. These will be going on before the MOT in May, then the old set will be refurbed and stored away ready to go on after a couple or three years when the brakes that are fitted start to look a bit worse for wear.
This also gives me the opportunity of doing a brake fluid change..supposed to be done every couple of years.

They were probably fitted as an upgrade from the smaller brake setup ie 240mm discs and single piston sliding callipers, similar to the rear brakes on your car. Rather than replacing red 4 pots.gooseholla wrote: I understand this. The thing is, I am just hoping someone didn't waste money thinking they were an upgrade as they seem to have no added benefit over the MG ones, and look horrible compared to the MG ones on the red car, being blue!
This is a popular upgrade to improve brake performance from standard.

But didn't the trophy come with large brakes and 4 pots anyway, not small brakes and single sliding calipers?
