Hi, I have only just joined, because i have not long bought my lovely Trophy Blue MGTF.
As it has no handbook and i dont know the car and i wanted to know from other MGTF owners if the headlamp lenses come apart, as there is more dirt and grime on the inside of mine than there is on the outside ?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Wonderful informative site by the way, just couldnt see anything that related to this.
Thanks, John.

Welcome john got a new motor. .heres my calling card wollap...the goats made a mess on the carpet.. is there life on Mars. ...is there life in Peckham. .... remember some of the lyrics from the day....but john...I've got the picture disc hanging in the man cave.....how sads that..love the look of those mk3 cortinas...they have a 2000gxl in red at a local shop....Looks ok...but I wouldn't like to see the underside. Looking at those little chrome mirrors on the wings...in the day some owners had mirrors on the doors aswell...look like something out of quadraphenia...looKing at the cortinas in the image...they were the cheap spotlights of the day with plastic mesh gaurd ..I had the rectangle ones...made by raydyot....must of been around 1984?..it wasn't drugs or drink that made people whacky in the 80s...it was the fumes of the black underseal those ford's were painted with to stop the bottom dropping out

In answer to the OP's question.
No and Yes
No they are not meant to come apart. Lenses are glued on.
Yes they can come apart. Glue softens with heat. You put then in a warm oven for a few minuits and the glue softens and the lenses can be removed.
See THIS thread for details

Bake at 130 degrees for 7 minutes and then gently prise the lens away.
You will need some butyl rubber adhesive strip to refit the lens again.
Don't forget to remove the bulbs first. Take care not to warp the plastic when pulling the lens away.
When refitting the lens, warm up again at about 50 degrees for 7 mins and push the lens firmly back into place.
Butyl rubber adhesive is available on e-bay in a coiled roll.
