Indicator failure this morning as I took my wife to work; both left, right & hazards; use hand signals for the first time in forty + years, which no body understood. Home, coffee, circuit diagram & look for common denominator; hazard switch; look in “stores” for replacement; find, fit & test: working & the coffees still hot. How often, or not does that sort of thing happen on our cars?
Throw old switch in bin, think a bit, take it out; ”It Might Come In”. What for? but it's buggered; throw it away again. Might take it out again later.

With regards the hand signals , I'm sure people will have been thinking 'silly old ( in my case ) sod , what the hell is he doing ? '
I think we all forget the age of our MG's and that the parts were bargain basement to start off with .

I've been using hand signals for years...those taxis are always pulling out on you.....doesn't matter where you come from.....everybody recognises the 2 fingerd salute....it should be put in the highway code booklet.

I recall The Goodies had hand signals for turning left, turning right and turning nasty! :bust:

Where I work they used to have 3 vintage cars...they were 2 mayflowers and a jowett javelin...I remember looking inside the triumph mayflower. ...they had trafficators. ....a cable across the inside of the roof....not sure if you pulled it by hand or it was operated by a mechanism elsewhere....once the cable was pulled in the direction of travel a small arm stuck out on the side of the car to show other road users of your intentions....the mayflower was like al rolls royce for the working man.

Image of the traficator below...

And maybe the trafficators could come back in fashion and have writing on them to display your mood,or displeasure to other road users.
