cvt gearbox prob

Hi I have recently aquired a 2001 cvt 1.8 steppy, when cold it goes thru all gears in auto and in sport however when hot after about 10mins or so it starts high reving and feels like i have put the breaks on it continues like this i have to stop and let it cool before i can do another 10minutes :rant: :rant: i have been told loads of things by local experts (ok) but dont know now what to do , i have checked all connections i can find around gear box area clean pins good wd 40, i have changed oil ez779 i think it is new gasket and filter, the sump was clean magnet had bit of muck but nothing to cause concern oil level is good, now i am thinking solenoids or sensors is the car not being directect correctly , but there are no warning lights , the light on gear selection light up correctly, i am in framce about to return to uk and want to drive home in it but :help: it will take for ever at 10 minute jaunts. can some real expert give me some idea of what to get check i took it to my local garage today (it is closed) want to meet him monday morning with some ideas that he could persue to sort it ....i understand this box is in the mini and honda and renault so should have some knowledge, many thanks

Unfortunately, the stepspeed gearbox is a mystery to me too.
I don't think there is anyone on the forum who really knows the the workings of it.
I understand that the majority of problems are either fluid related or down to the forward facing electrical plug on the box itself.
Not much help, I'm afraid.:nonod:

Ps, forgot to mention that you should check that the oil cooler radiator for the gearbox is ok.
