cat heatshields
The welds holding the two sided heat shield onto my othwise perfectly serviceable cat have failed and it's rattling like a goodun.
Should I
a) just pull them off and hope I dont set anything alight
b) Put my cat bypass on and forget about it until next MOT
c) stop being a cheapskate and buy a new cat
?????
There isnt enough good metal left to tack weld them back
Thoughts....

I would probably put the bypass on which will buy some time to shop around or at least save up for a new cat.

I have done, and ordered a new sports cat. Extremely galling as aside from the flappy heat shield there is nothing wrong with the old one.

Being parsimonious by nature, (cheapskate) I would have used an exhaust bandage to wrap the offending unit to stop the rattling...
