I managed it by removing the coolant expansion tank and then removing the dipstick/oil filler neck. I could then get at those stupid clips and just about get mole grips on them to remove them. The pipe was ver soft and bulging, but I decided it wasn't leaking but that it just wasn't sealing properly as the steel pipe was showing surface rust and was rough to the touch. I cleaned it all up, put some waterpump gasket sealent on it an put the new pipe on with proper pipe clips that you can do with a screwdriver or 7mm socket. So fingers crossed, that's done.
Of course I broke something. I broke the clip at the bottom of the oil filler neck where it goes over the dipstick tube. I've made it good with some o-rings for now, but anyone know what this part is called?
thanks
Nick

I believe it is part number LZN100220.
I broke mine years ago and didnt replace it. I havent had a problem though. I think the only issue would be slight leakage if you are filling the sump through the dip tube.
