So I have a 2005 TF with about 23,000 on the clock. I swapped the instruments for LE500 style with the relevant cable. All good. Been running for about a year without problems.
I just took the car to Greece (and have left it there for now). I did about 2,500 miles in 3 weeks. All good.
In the last couple of days of the trip, I got an ABS light. Assumed a sensor had gone down but the ABS still operates. Workshop manual says that when the light is on, the car behaves as a non ABS variant.... that isnt happening.
Around the same time, the temperature gauge switched between zero temperature to normal temperature to mental head gasket blown moving bargraph. This was unstable for a while and now is in the chasing bargraph / overheating state full time. No problem thinks iain - its a sensor - its a 13 year old car and its been hammered for several weeks.
Next..... fuel gauge. Was on zero with full tank. ignition off and back on and it worked ok. Then it stopped and is dead.
Pattern emerging!
Finally, the speedometer at speed dropped to zero 3 or 4 times. Now doesnt work.
Also, the indicator green lights have stopped working suddenly!
I wondered about an earth..... but the rev counter works just fine As do other lights such as handbrake.
The oil temperature red light is on full time but the oil temperature gauge is just fine.
I am concluding that the instrument pack is progressively packing up. Would anyone have a view? There cant be this many problems appearing within 50 miles or so?
If consensus is junk the pack and buy another, I have seen someone mention buying them from china. Any links?
Thanks in advance for thoughts on all this. Its a funny one!
Cheers
Iain

Posted 6 years 2 months ago #187819Having worked for The London Taxi Co ( formally London Taxis International ) , Cobblers comment made me smile . As a company that was part owned by Geely ( Chinese ) the quality of some of the parts was ........appalling! The British side of the company took their eye off the quality checking ball and a crucial mechanical part failed and they ( the Chinese ) wouldn't help fund the recall ! ! ! Result....London Taxi Co entered administration. Chinese then picked up the remains of the company for P nuts ! Laughable and sad .Cobber wrote: Who'd 've thought.............quality chinese electronics!

Posted 6 years 2 months ago #187820I would check that the electric plugs are all connected correctly to the dash panel, check the under dash earth and check the conditions of the main earths around the car.
