Restless, irritable & discontent...
But… can’t help wondering about converting it to VVC for some more top end poke. I’m sure I’m not the first…
The good news is that I have a dedicated MG/Rover specialist nearby who really knows his stuff with these cars. The bad – well, that’s what I want you to tell me! Anybody got a vague idea of cost? I’m guessing I’d need a cylinder head and maybe a different ECM, but is there much more to it than that?
Thanks

Yeah I’m not interested in getting into turbos or anything complicated, or getting another car. I was lucky to find one with only 13000 on the clock, dry stored since 2010, absolutely mint, so I’ll be keeping her.
It’s the 135 engine – like I say, if it’s relatively straightforward (for a mechanic, not me) to do, I’m going to think about it – if not, I’ll leave her as she is

Yeah I was very lucky - I know her history too. There's 14000 on her now - mostly fairly high revved they're fun cars, that's for sure - woke me up again after 8 years of plodding around in my trusty Rover 75 tractor... before that I had an M3 :omg:

I live in N Ireland - it's ALWAYS winter here. But I take it out in dry weather only - it's just a toy really... it's fine, it's fun, I just feel it's a little flat. Of course, this might be entirely down to my normally driving a turbo diesel, where you always get that rush...

Oh, don’t get me started on remapping N/A engines… I used to hang out with a BMW racing team, and they tried every chip and map they could find – none of them produced any power increase at all. In fact, most of them reduced power, but gave the illusion of extra by mucking about with the power curve to make it more peaky.
Turbos are a different matter of course
