I was exactly the same as you last year. I'd tinkered with Roxy, done a re-map, put on Bilsteins and other bits and pieces, but wanted more.
Chris Flanagan at Retro Sports cars did the conversion for me. He quoted £1800 inc vat which included a 160 reconditioned cylinder head, all new gaskets, belts and covers, Kmaps 160 remapped ecu, new powder coated rear subframe, new clutch and a vvc gearbox to suit the engine.
I love the improvement.....but know that the cheapest route would have been to sell Roxy and buy an original 160. However, then I'd have had to explain to TMW why I was changing cars. The route I went means she knows nothing......which is how I like her to remain.
However, I did feel slightly guilty about the expense, so bought her a brand new Sebo vacuum....
