Another replacement keyfob question

My 97 MGF came with only one remote fob and no EKA code, so if that fails, I'm screwed.
I haven't been able to find anyone in Adelaide (South Australia) that can retrieve the EKA and supply & program a second remote, and the previous MG dealers in Adelaide are no longer. So I've had to buy a T300 programmer to do it myself.

Also turns out that Australia got 315MHz remotes rather than the UK's 433MHz, so spare remotes are more difficult to come by. There are a couple of 315MHz fobs on EBay Australia listed for Land Rover Freelander that look identical.

Is anyone able to confirm if I can use the Freelander remote on my MGF, or anyone that can supply a 315MHz remote?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Looking on Rimmers web site, there are 3 315mhz key fobs.

YWX101230A
YWX000310
YWX101230AP,

The last 2 are discontinued, the first one sells at £93.00 approx.

From this, you can check out the part numbers to see if they correspond with the Land Rover fobs.

Or, drop Rimmers an e mail for advice.

Cheers
David

If at any stage your planning a road trip to Melbourne, I can program the fobs for you with my Pscan :drive:
I know its big trip...........but hey, what are cars for, if not to drive them?

I got one sent to me in Airlie Beach from remotekey.co.uk as per below.

He also sent a programmer so it could match the car, (to be returned once the job was complete) and provided me with the EKA for my car.

"We do supply to Australia and the information you have given below shows you have the Lucas 5AS 315mhz system fitted which is fully compatible with the key fob and programmer device we sell.

Problem well on the way to being solved now.
Programmer arrived just before Christmas. I have briefly tried it & have read the EKA code. I might change it to something easier to remember. As soon as I get hold of a replacement remote, I'll have a go at programming that.

Happy New Year when it comes.

You will have no problem in changing the EKA . I did this last year to a more convenient code .
Glad you are nearly sorted .

John
