Graham, just upgrade your battery to a larger capacity one, say 80A/h or even a 100 A/h, plenty of room to fit it in, thats my plan next time I buy one.

Makes a great difference uprating batteries fo higher ah...just this Christmas I got a battery for my cordless angle grinder....it had more amp/hour...original was a 2.5 amp hour battery...the grinder zapped it...so fitted the 4.0ah battery and it transformed the performance no end...loads.more battery time...so makes sense fitting a battery with more ah on a car that likes batteries for dinner...not long had my battery on the tf...so I won't be changing it for a upgrade yet....but next time.😆

My battery on the tf is just a standard calcium 60a/h battery .

That cost £65...not sure how much you would have to pay for the upgrade..and the battery for my grinder was nearly has much has the one for the car...cost £40
...
Bit like said before if your car is eating batteries for dinner its time to upgrade.

So if I wanted a 100a/h battery for my tf ...is it just a simple method of going to halfords and saying I want a beefier battery or do these shops just go off reg numbers and want to supply you the exact same has you already have?

The only things you need to make sure if upgrading the battery, is that the battery will fit into the battery compartment and that the battery leads will fit to the terminal posts on the battery.
My ZT-T has a really nice and big 100A/h battery being a KV6 engine, I am thinking that this should keep the TF nicely supplied with healty power for a good long period!

Oh maybe just a final point, no fuses have been replaced by rusty nails, would hate to see a 100A/h battery shorted out!

I have ABS so don't have the space on the O/S wing so instead I cut down the cover at the back over the wiper motor. I then got a suitable sized box with lid and popped it in the space.

Nowadays you can by small Lithium Ion jump starter packs that will fit in the glove box for very little money.

MGTFbluestreak - it's not just that you've gone from 2.5 Ah to 4.0 Ah, you've also gone Lithium Ion.

Home to black Alfa Romeo 159 3.2 V6 Q4 ,green MGF VVC and red MG Maestro T16.

MG - the friendly marque.

Mark, I just love my ZT-T its been a great buy, it cost me £495 came with 10 months MOT and a full tank of petrol, I have run it now for 18 months putting on 10K and only had to replace the rear brake discs and shoes and a couple of seals on the fuel rail, and clean up the viz motors a bit. I love the power and the room in the back is awesome. The paintwork is a bit scuffed, but its not a show car, its a workhorse. Best thing is there is a guy local who breaks them, spares are cheap as chips from him. Put a couple of winter tyres on and got a full set of wheels for the summer with nearly new tyres on for £60. Fuel wise it does about 30 to the gallon. The big issue now is do I pay £500 for a cambelt and water pump to be fitted, or do I just drive it and see how long it goes, its due next year for a replacement.

Remember putting a larger battery will not be of any benifit, unless you do the miles to enable it to fully re-charge between re-starts.

If you do lots of short journies, especially in the winter (lights on, fan on etc) then the size of battery will not matter if you are taking more power out the battery than you are putting back in!

Best option is to get a battery tender type charger, and keep the battery fully charged when parked.

One thing that will damage any battery rapidly is allowing it to go completely flat (as well as rapid charging, such as when jump-starting).
