Turning engine over
Once I've replaced my cylinder head I want to turn the engine over on the battery to charge the lubrication system before putting it under load. On my other cars ( pre 1974) I'd just take the low tension lead off the distributor. What's the best way to do it on a TF without damaging anything?

Fuse F23 powers the fuel pump. That might work for you. I'm not sure what else it powers.

Hi . Why not just unplug the leads to both coil packs , that is presuming that you still have the engine cover off.

David, i guess taking the fuse out might work, but it's not guaranteed as the fuel system may still be charged, so the engine could fire?
John, i wondered about that, as it is the modern equivalent of disconnecting the low tension lead from the distributor, i was just concerned it might make the electronics have a hissy fit. The other option is take the plugs out lay them on the head - so they still spark, just not in the holes, just it is more of a hassle.

Yes I take your point . I think that you will more than likley log a fault code in the engine management but it shouldn't be a problem once the engine runs as , it will just end up being a historic fault code .
