I have bought my car (mgf mpi 2001) in april 2013 and then my tension belt has been renewed (incl tensioner and waterpump).
Since then I drove 22.000 km (- 14.000 miles).
Questions:
1) is it time to change the belt (and thus pum and tensioner) yet?
2) What kit would you buy, mgrover original or an other brands?
3) what would you choose as tensioner automatic or manual (why)?
Kind regards,
Joris

1) Was the belt etc. changed in 2013? If so yes as it is due on age.
2)
3) Replace like for like, I think the width of your belt tells you which you have.IIRC you car should have a manual tensioner.

I Have a 2001 mpi and it has an auto tensioner.
MG Rover did change the belt width on the K series from 23mm (manual tensioner) to 26mm (auto tensioner) around 2001.
So belt width depends on what type of tensioner you have.
I think the change from distributor to coil packs on the mpi happened at the same time.
