Radiator Bleed Screw Leaking

Radiator Bleed Screw Leaking was created by Pusb

Hi,

I noticed the radiator bleed screw was weeping slightly a few weeks ago, so I ordered a new screw. However now that I've received it I've noticed it looks nothing like my existing one. Was there more than one kind used? Its a 2001 model.

The existing one seems to be much bigger

This is the replacement I bought

As long as the thread is the same you'll be fine. The hex nut is easier as the screwdriver type losses it's slots over time as you can tell from your old one. Once they've rounded it's a bugger to get off!

The standard rad only had one size of screw but after market rads may be different. The only way to tell if it will fit to is try it.

I think the later ones were of the Hex variety, both my 2004 cars had the hex bleed screw fitted. This is a good memory jolt by the way, its a spare I do not carry in my little box of essential bits, so will make sure I get hold of one!

As an aside, I've got this type which fitted both my original 2003 rad and my alloy one.

The Satur version is threaded for the oem radiator, as I found to my cost when I tried to fit it to my aftermarket rad...:nonod: :slapme:

Yes I bought the aftermarket radiator and then bought the satur bleed nipple...it didn't fit...hee so I engineered it to fit..😁...if I remember right the satur bleed valve being bigger than the hole in the after market rad..so I would of drilled the hole larger tapped a thread and fitted a insert to the exact thread pitch and size so the satur nipple wasn't wasted.and fitted correctly..here's a pic of the new rad going in with satur valve fitted..
